What's My Skin Type?

Posted by ECOSKIN on

Knowing your skin type is essential in selecting skincare products that are specifically designed for you!

Here at ECOSKIN, our skincare lines are specially formulated with different, natural active ingredients to help nourish all skin types!

Oily Skin

Our face and other parts of the body contain sebaceous glands which produce an oily substance called sebum. While sebum is important to prevent surface water loss, transport antioxidants and has some light-protective properties, our bodies can sometimes overproduce this substance and this leads to oily skin!

If you are finding your face feels clogged and emits a little more shine 2-3 hours after cleansing, you may have oily skin.

Check out our Tropical Range which contains natural ingredients that help to control and reduce this excess sebum.

Dry Skin

Dry skin can be caused by many different reasons, including changes in temperature, lower moisture in the air, or using harsh soaps. Even the change of season may bring about some dry skin! But some people may naturally produce less sebum or it may result of an underlying condition.

If you notice that your skin becomes red, flaky or even slightly itchy 2-3 hours after cleansing, you may have dry skin.

We recommend using our Natives Range which is packed with super hydrating, native Australian plants that have adapted to withstand the scorching, Australian sun! (If you have dry skin due to an underlying condition, please consult your doctor before using.)

Mature Skin

As our skin starts to age, we may notice that it becomes a little drier, a little finer and more deep lines start to set in. This occurs due to the slowing down of our skin cell metabolism, which over time, reduces collagen and fibroblasts that keep our skin supple.

However, a common misconception is that mature skin is only caused by age. What we define as 'mature skin' (wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, skin dehydration) can also be caused by heavy exposure to sunlight, genetics and lifestyle factors, such as diet and tobacco.

To keep your skin supple and glowing for longer, we suggest incorporating our Mature Range into your routine!

Combination Skin

Combination skin is a mix of both dry and oily skin on different parts of the face. Most commonly, the areas that have more sebaceous glands (forehead, nose and chin) tend to become more oily, and this forms the aptly named, T-Zone!

At the moment, we don't have a range for combination skin but we are currently working on bringing a Combination Range to ECOSKIN!
